One moment his hands were juggling a microphone and a large marijuana joint, and the next moment they were in handcuffs.
That was how rapper Action Bronson’s Saturday night at the Sunny Hill Festival in Southeastern Europe suddenly took a turn for the worse.
The Queens native was on stage getting ready to perform when video evidence captured him sparking up and smoking a spliff.
TMZ reports that, immediately after stepping off-stage, Bronson was arrested by Kosovo police. He was later released, police spokesperson told TMZ. Bronson was the only American rapper to perform at the festival, and it is unclear whether he was unfamiliar with the Kosovo law or whether he simply chose to ignore it.
Perhaps he had grown accustomed to the new normal regarding marijuana enforcement here in New York City, where Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance announced that his office would no longer prosecute low-level marijuana offenses and where the NYPD is will soon implement a ticketing policy for marijuana smoking and possession.
Bronson, a former chef, has recently toured the world — including a stop as headliner the Louis Armstrong Wonderful World Festival in Flushing last month — and worked on his latest studio album, White Bronco.
“Right now I’m mixing, I’m doing all types if things to fix it,” he told XXL. “Make it real, real tight, but it’s coming. It should be here within the next couple of months.”
Until then, fans can rest easy knowing that for now, Bronson is a free man.
