A Hillcrest resident who attempted to meet and have sex with an undercover investigator who was posing as a 13-year-old girl was convicted in Queens Criminal Court Thursday.
Joel Einhorn, 75, a resident of Utopia Parkway pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted rape before Judge Stephanie Zaro.
Einhorn responded to a personal ad on Craigslist entitled “Daddy looking for ‘real’ Queens ‘girl’ No flakes (M4W)” that was posted by a state police officer. From October 2016 to November 2017, Einhorn repeatedly exchanged sexually explicit messages with the investigator, who posed as a 13-year-old girl in Queens.
Prosecutors said Einhorn “discussed various ways he planned to sexually please her” and described “his desire to meet with the teenager for sex.”
Einhorn and the investigator — still posing as a 13-year-old girl — arranged to meet at a spot in Queens in November 2016. When Einhorn arrived, police arrested him and discovered sex toys inside his car.
“The defendant has admitted to trying to meet an underage teenager whom he was conversing online with for a month seeking sex,” Brown said in a statement. “This case underscores the importance of internet surveillance by law enforcement to protect children from sexual predators. Parents must closely monitor their children’s internet activities and not let youngsters become victims of sexual predators.”
